Sponsor Your Planting Bed

We have 19 in-sidewalk planting beds and single tree wells on South Main that need permanent landscaping. We have partnered with the DMC and Memphis Tree Works to select an elegant and simple palette of indigenous plants that will give South Main a beautiful, parklike and unified look. And because all the plants are indigenous, they are naturally disease resistant, drought resistant, and will require little or no supplemental water after the first year. Keeping South Main beautiful year-round for years and years to come.

The current plantings on Main Street are temporary and seasonal.

They will winter-kill with the first frost. And leave us with empty blighted beds again. The new sponsored landscaping will be permanent, parklike, and look beautiful year-round. Below is also an example of an empty bed on Main Street. Rendering of the plantings to the right.

Your sponsorship pays for more than just the plants themselves. It includes:

Transportation and delivery of all plants, soil and mulch
Labor for all planting
Site prep and necessary soil improvement
Top coating with mulch
Management of any utilities under the planting location
One year of regular watering via watering trucks
One year replacement guarantee on all plants

There are three categories of planting bed to sponsor. And your sponsorship will be honored in perpetuity with a permanent custom brass plaque in the planting bed with the message of your choice.

Oversized and dramatic, these beds will receive 2 Slender Silhouette Sweetgum Trees and extensive inkberry evergreen shrubs.
